The Fondation “Cœur à Keur”, in collaboration with the NGO “Houenoussou Gnonnoulenitchité”, organized a campaign of free medical consultations at Fidjrossè in Cotonou from July 23 to 24, 2024. This initiative enabled 109 children living in precarious conditions to benefit from essential, high-quality medical care.
The aim of the campaign was to prevent health problems among the 109 children identified, and to reduce the prevalence of childhood illnesses through improved access to care. Fairground consultations offer an effective solution to the financial obstacles that make access to care difficult for their families.
In the early hours of both days, the medical teams set up in the DJOMEHOUNTIN health center in the Cotonou VI health zone. The children, accompanied by their parents or guardians, were received by doctors including Professeur Gervais HOUNNOU, Doctor Lisette CAPO-CHICHI, Pulcherie VILON GUEZO, who carried out consultations in symbiosis with the center’s nurses. Each child received a full medical examination. Common pathologies were diagnosed. Prescriptions were issued for necessary treatments, and parents were given advice on hygiene and nutrition.
Thanks to this campaign, which is part of the “Coeur à Keur” Foundation’s health program, these 86 children were able to receive an early diagnosis of any illnesses they might be suffering from. The consultations also made it possible to detect cases of malnutrition, directing the families to the appropriate services for ongoing monitoring. The foundation also covered the cost of prescriptions issued on the spot to help families cope.
The operation was supported by several partners and external donors. These collaborations were essential to the campaign’s success, providing both human and material resources. The “Cœur à Keur” Foundation’s fairground consultation campaign is a poignant example of solidarity and commitment to vulnerable children. By bringing health care to this segment of society, this initiative has not only improved children’s health, but also raised community awareness of the importance of regular medical care. The “Cœur à Keur” Foundation continues to show that every action counts, and that every child deserves a chance to grow up healthy.
