2024

Food aid in all partner centers

In line with its “Food” focus, the “Coeur à Keur” Foundation provided ongoing food support to its partner centers over the course of 2024. Over the past year, it has distributed more than five tons of food to the centers. This food, carefully selected according to the needs expressed and for its quality, has enabled the various centers to guarantee a balanced diet for the primary beneficiaries, who are the children. By collaborating with national distributors, the Foundation was also able to support the economy.

Delivery of mattresses to the lobogo center

In 2024, the “Saints Innocents” center in Lobogo was in urgent need of new mattresses. The existing mattresses were in an advanced state of deterioration, compromising the comfort and well-being of the young girls. In keeping with its “Well-being” line, the “Coeur à Keur” Foundation responded to this call for help in May 2024. With a view to ensuring restful sleep and better living conditions, the Foundation donated 19 new mattresses, each intended for one of the center’s young girls. This action was carried out in close collaboration with an authorized distributor of a mattress brand recognized for its durability and quality.

Tree nurseries donation

On June 15, 2024, the “Cœur à Keur” Foundation showed its solidarity by actively participating in World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. This day, dedicated to defending the rights and well-being of the elderly, was an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to a crucial cause while tackling an urgent environmental issue. On the occasion of this awareness-raising day, children representing the Foundation made a significant gesture by donating over 60 breadfruit tree nurseries. This symbolic and practical donation served a dual purpose.

Nutrition training in partner centers

Aware that food goes hand in hand with nutrition, the “Coeur à Keur” Foundation wanted to emphasize this point in each of its partner centers. That’s why, in July 2024, it organized, in collaboration with “IfèNutrition”, nutrition training sessions for nannies and cooks at the centers in question. In addition to theoretical modules, the training included cooking demonstrations and an assessment of the children’s nutritional status. It lasted an average of two days in each center, and helped to achieve three major objectives.

Fairground consultations

The “Cœur à Keur” Foundation, in collaboration with the NGO “ Houenoussou Gnonnoulenitchité”, has identified a pocket of extreme poverty within Fidjrossè. To facilitate access to health care, it organized mobile consultations at the Djomehountin health center in Cotonou’s Health Zone VI. These consultations met an urgent need. With the participation of health professionals such as Professor HOUNNOU Gervais and Dr. Lisette CAPO CHICHI, 74% of the children surveyed were able to be examined, with their prescriptions fully covered.

Donations of school kits

As part of its commitment to education for all, the “Cœur à Keur” Foundation organized a distribution of school kits to underprivileged children in Fidjrossè in September 2024. Aware of the financial challenges faced by many families in this community, it wanted, in collaboration with the NGO “Houenoussou Gnonnoulenitchité”, to alleviate the burden represented by the cost of purchasing school supplies. The initiative provided 95+ children with essential equipment for the school year. This included notebooks, pens, a backpack and other teaching aids. The NGO also contributed bags and pairs of shoes for the children.

Medical check-ups at partner centers

Children’s health is an absolute priority for the “Cœur à Keur” Foundation. With this in mind, we have set up annual check-ups for all the orphaned and vulnerable children we support. These check-ups, carried out by qualified health professionals, are essential to ensure that each child benefits from regular and appropriate medical follow-up. Each check-up includes a full consultation and a series of in-depth analyses, covering various aspects of the child’s health. This enables us to effectively prevent and treat illnesses that could affect children’s well-being.

Multimedia library installation

With a view to offering quality education to vulnerable children, the “Cœur à Keur” Foundation has set up multimedia libraries in several partner centers. The main aim of this project is to improve access to education, by offering children a variety of digital and educational resources. Thanks to these spaces, children now have access to e-books, interactive teaching tools and the Internet, enabling them to acquire new skills. The project is also helping to bridge the digital divide between children living in reception centers and those living outside.

Christmas festivities for 2024

To mark the year 2024 in an exceptional way, the “Cœur à Keur” Foundation organized a festive day bringing together all the children from its partner centers. On December 29, a special event was organized, offering the children a moment of respite and joy. On the program: lunch, group games, shows and a giant snack. All in the spirit of Christmas. The day, which brought together more than 80 children from three partner centers, was an opportunity to celebrate childhood and reinforce the feeling of belonging to one big family.
